Context
In 2016, SFOPHO put together the Heritage Site Committee, whose purpose was to identify and catalogue heritage sites in Orléans.
The Committee has located and documented 190 sites in what used to be the village of Orléans and its surroundings, i.e., the Gloucester and Cumberland Townships. These sites consist of residential buildings, a few businesses, and natural areas. The main criteria for classification were a site’s architecture, history, and age—in this case, predating 1950. This project is expected to be completed in 2019.
